Lichtstimme

Alva Noto imagines a film that exists only through sound on Lichtstimme, the first part of a diptych inspired by E. T. A. Hoffmann’s The Sandman. Thirteen concise compositions begin in a space of apparent clarity, where weightless textures and a sense of familiarity gradually give way to shifting perceptions. What first seems transparent slowly reveals its darker underside, blurring the line between recognition and uncertainty.
